Living Without's Favorite Books: Paleo Parents

How do you inspire your children to make healthy food choices? Teach them to Eat Like A Dinosaur (Victory Belt Publishing, Inc.). This engaging book written by Stacy Toth and Matthew McCarry (aka the Paleo Parents) is a child-friendly primer on back-to-basics cooking using fresh ingredients without dairy, wheat, peanuts, soy or artificial additives. The authors’ family of five collectively lost 200 pounds and regained their health by ditching junk food and eating meat, veggies and occasional treats using ingredients like almond flour. The book contains over 100 recipes (top 8 allergens are called out) specifically designed to intrigue kids into helping prepare their own food—and then enjoy eating it. Parents, note the section with tricks to tempt picky eaters. What a fun message for kids: “Dinosaurs eat exactly like we do!”
