When my friend Bari Mandelbaum, a nutritionist in Silicon Valley, realized that she was highly sensitive to gluten, she knew that wheat breads, pastas, cereals and many other foods were off her plate. But what about her glass? Bari can’t drink beer because it contains gluten, unless she buys one of a handful of gluten-free brands. Wine? She’s also sensitive to the sulfites present in red and white wines.
