My daughter was diagnosed with celiac in early February and was hoping that this diagnosis would be the answer to why she seems to be unable to loose weight. For the past 2 years she has been eating healthier (more veggies & fruits, cleaner foods, less salt, less sugar) and exercising more (plus the 45 min phys-ed at school per day) but no weight loss. Again, since this diagnosis even with making her own foods with the higher protein flours and trying to avoid the white rice flours and avoiding the processed GF foods and still exercising more (long and/or power walks, Wii Fit, Wii Active, eliptical trainer, Zumba, yoga, strength) and since February she has come down clothing sizes but only 2 pounds down.
Help! What else can she do? Is this common? Will the weight eventually start dropping off? She was also diagnosed with 'border-line' low thyroid that family Dr. is keeping an eye on.
