Cookie Time!
Treat family and friends to
the gift of homemade good taste.
Whether gluten free, wheat free, or dairy free, we
have a cookie that's just right for you. Food allergies make shopping at
the local bakery for holiday treats no longer an option for my family.
When the kids clamor for cookies, I pull out the ingredients, heat up
the oven, and tie on my apron. Quite frankly, there's nothing more
welcoming to come home to than the smell of cookies baking, especially
at this time of year.
Cookies make delicious gifts, too. Fill a colorful tin with homemade
treats or arrange them on a treasured dish. Wrap with clear cellophane
and tie with fancy raffia. Over the years, my children have given their
favorite cookies to delighted family members, friends and teachers.
If youre a newcomer to the wacky world of gluten-free flours,
gluten-free dough may initially be more frustrating to work with than
regular dough, especially when making sugar cookies or refrigerator
dough. Rolling out the dough and creating cut-outs can bring out the
Scrooge in any of us! Patience, a sense of humor and the confidence that
re-rolling once, twice, or even three times will not damage the dough,
can make all the difference. Start with easy recipes, like gingersnaps.
Then, when youre feeling adventurous, move on to baklava and
florentines.
So, if dietary restrictions have tempted you to turn off your oven this
year, think again. These winning cookie recipes, from quick and easy
gingersnaps to memorable pistachio baklava, will chase the Grinch right
out of your kitchen.
